In Search of the A350-XWB

Destination

In May 2016, my wife and I had the opportunity to visit Adelaide. This was not our first trip, and given the amazing food, beautiful scenery, gorgeous zoo and the "quieter than Sydney" feels, it was not hard to book some tickets and go.

The decision was made even easier when I realised that Qatar had recently started their new service to ADL with the state-of-the-art A350XWB.

Luck On Our Side

As our aircraft taxied to the gate in Adelaide, my wife pointed out the odd looking B747 tail parked up in a remote stand. As our aircraft turned ever so slightly, the glare shifted from our eyes and Surprise..

Ed Force One was in town, and due to depart within 2 hours of our arrival! I caught the Sydney departure, but smoke from nearby bushfires all but destroyed the photos. Blue skies in Adelaide! What a win!

The Main Attraction

As the day drew towards sunset, the skies remained clear, and QR914 from Doha did not disappoint. I'd seen an A350 in the Airbus colours previously, but not in Airline colours and the QR livery looks stunning on this airframe. With minutes worth of sunlight left in the day, I captured these gorgeous shots.

What a beautiful bird!! Enhanced even more by the late afternoon sunshine of Adelaide. With more airlines bringing the A350XWB into service each month, our fingers are crossed that Sydney Airport is on the radar for a few regular visits!

Have you flown on an A350? If so, i'd love to get some feedback on the aircraft below in the comments!

Cheers
