Qantas have announced a small but pivitol detail regarding their upcoming and ground-breaking B787-9 service.
Tickets will commence sale next month (Apr 2017) leading to speculation that the first flight will be April 2018. QF's booking system looks 350 days in advance, meaning tickets cannot be purchased to fly, prior to that.
If all goes to plan, we don't have long to wait for information regarding the price of the flights! Exactly what Qantas will charge, and what Australian's will pay for a direct service into Europe has been a huge talking point and a closely guarded secret since the announcement of the PER-LH.
Something else that's being quietly discussed around the aviation circles, is the starting point for this non-stop service to London. Will the aircraft be based in Perth itself? Or as is being discussed currently, will this service commence in Melbourne, with a brief stopover in Perth prior to the longest Dreamliner flight available.
If this is true, does Qantas still need the QF9/10 service, being operated with the Airbus A380. Will this cease all together so the A380 can deploy elsewhere, or will the QF9/10 terminate in Dubai, and offer EK codeshare flights onwards to London.
Much to learn, and not much time to have to wait to find out!
